After months of relentless archival research, tracking down former Mugler collaborators, combing through photos, documents and video tapes, the second issue of Griffé is out. Griffé is the result of the various labels hidden in the linings of our clothes, which are the most reliable witnesses to the eventful life of a fashion house. From haute couture labels to ready-to-wear composition labels, every inscription and every evolution in label design has meaning. For many vintage and fashion archive professionals, labels can help authenticate and date a garment, sometimes more accurately than the garment itself.
