Racquet is a new quarterly magazine that celebrates the art, ideas, style and culture that surround tennis. We fondly remember the swashbuckling sport of the tennis boom of the 1970s and ’80s, and our goal is to help restore some of that swagger to today’s game. We’ll work with some of the best writers – those experienced in the tennis conversation, and those who’ve never covered the sport – as well as artists and photographers to explore the modern tennis landscape, bringing you something beautiful and meaningful four times a year.
In this, our first-ever travel issue, we explore the Ligurian coast with Spanish tennis legend Feliciano Lopez and present a visual journal of Rome, brought to us by a photographer who grew up amidst its spectacularly gorgeous courts. We touch down in fields afar: From the British Indian atoll of Diego Garcia to one man’s vacation-turned-vocation in Cebu City, to a celebration of the Fiji Open, now in its 118th year.
Expat Abena Anim-Somuah joins a men’s only tennis club in Mexico City, we made you a guide to the newly upgraded tennis destination of Dallas, and compiled for readers a journey we’d all like to take: to perfection. Laura Bailey and her collaborator Mark Arrigo bring us around the globe with their new Rizzoli tome Courtship: For the Love of Tennis, and on our cover, SoCal native Taylor Fritz goes home to LA.
