C41 Magazine is a Milan-based magazine of contemporary visual art from all over the world. We’re interested in lifestyle, fashion, design, outdoors, and creative communities. Through our viewers’ lenses, we tell the stories. C-41 is a chromogenic colour print film developing process. Also well-known as CN-16 by Fuji, CNK-4 by Konica, and AP-70 by AGFA, it’s the most popular film process in use, with the most photofinishing labs devoting at least one machine to this development process.
In this issue, all becomes archive – not by choice or importance, but by the very inertia of modern existence. Data, images, words, and sounds accumulate endlessly, layer after layer, shaping a collective memory no longer selective but democratic. Time itself is the supreme curator, attributing meaning to fragments once overlooked: a photograph, a fleeting text, an emotion captured in passing. Almost ten years after the first printed issue of C41, this moment invites us to look back — to recognize what we have explored, to embrace both insights and mistakes, and to acknowledge that even the smallest trace bears witness to our presence.
