Each themed edition of BranD showcases brand work and design. An excellent reference publication for anyone working in commercial or brand-based design, as well as those working in graphic design more generally. Plus, it often features innovative print finishing techniques.
Sporting a fingerprint-like cutout cover this time, the theme of this latest issue suggests a focus on nature’s influence on typography. Yet, this is really used as a starting point to explore contemporary Japanese type design, whose letterforms have been historically influenced by organic forms and the natural world.
Featuring work from 36 designers, there’s plenty of visual inspiration as always, with examples of Japanese typography applied to branding, packaging, film posters, logos and more, plus experimental type and the ways in which both Japanese and Roman scripts work together.
